What's new
Every release of Jade for Mac, newest first: what's new, what got better, and what got fixed.
Jade now runs on macOS 14 and later.
New
- After each update, Jade opens What's New once to show what changed, in English or Chinese, and the menu bar menu keeps it there for later.
Improved
- Jade runs on macOS Sonoma 14 and Sequoia 15 as well as Tahoe 26, so more Macs can have it, older Intel Macs among them.
- Each release page on GitHub now starts with what changed, in English and Chinese, and says which file to download.
One cat, on your desktop and on the web.
Improved
- The cat on jadethecat.com now runs the same mind as the one on your desktop.
- Greetings, sleepy nights and the Right now card work the same way in both places.
- When your cat learns something new on the Mac, the cat on the website learns it too.
Your cat notices when you come back.
New
- Come back after ten minutes or more away and your cat greets you: a fond cat walks over, a shyer cat looks up.
- Double-click your cat for a Right now card, with a mood or two and a line in your cat's own voice.
- Late at night your cat gets sleepy, with fewer leaps and more naps; turn off Sleepy at night in Settings if you'd rather not.
- The pixel cat can now wear your own cat's coat colours, ready for when they arrive from Jade on iPhone.
Improved
- The Right now card and the break screen's buttons have softer, rounder corners, like Jade on iPhone and on the web.
Fixed
- Settings no longer assume your cat is a boy.
Your cat's own name, and a ring that counts down to your break.
New
- In the menu bar, your cat sits in a ring that empties as your next break gets closer.
- When a break is close, the ring fills in, so you can tell at a glance.
Improved
- The countdown is shorter: 59m, 1h 5m, and seconds only in the last minute.
- The menu opens with your cat's name, and every item has an icon.
- Settings, the menu and the break screen now use your cat's own name instead of Jade.
